“I wanted to evoke what it was like to be by the sea” says its creator, Geza Schoen, “but not by using the usual marine notes. Instead I wanted to recreate the experience of being on an island in the Mediterranean” – something he’s accomplished with aplomb. With fresh, zesty top notes of bergamot and orange, conjuring the optimistic scent of orange groves, and a lingering drydown of cistus labdanum and mastic – two classic Mediterranean ingredients – that bring a sweet, leathery, resinous roundness, while fig lends a green, fruity ripeness.
